Welcome everyone to The Weekndr Blog!
Curating the brand, The Weekndr, is a process I have begun, paused, resumed and paused again for the last six years. I’ve always dreamt of creating a safe environment for men to have dialogue about topics that they may not feel comfortable sharing with their peers and the public.
Attending Morehouse College and majoring in Marketing, I knew that my path was to receive my degree and enter into the corporate world of a marketing firm. After college, same as others, I had no plan of what my next endeavor would be. In my heart I always felt my niche for fashion design was a gift I wanted to share with the world. In 2014, I created a menswear brand, Brown Street Clothiers, with a peer from college. The passion to design was there, but the discipline and work ethic to launch the brand wasn’t. After an unsuccessful attempt with creating a menswear line in Atlanta I relocated to Charlotte, NC to begin a career in the financial industry.
Entering into the financial industry intrigued me because of the monetary aspect of it. In my mind I knew this could provide me financial stability, but the daily corporate politics had me feeling defeated. I constantly reflected on my commute to work about my childhood and matriculation into adulthood how I was always passionate about fashion and grooming. From my early childhood being voted best dressed in elementary, setting fashion trends in highschool and styling my peers in undergrad, it was confirmation that this was and is my calling.
With fashion being my first love and my original goal of moving up the corporate ladder quickly diminishing, 2018 I created a menswear blog, The Weekndr. I’ve written blogs, curated photoshoots, but my niche for fashion wasn’t my true calling. Styling peers and people I met on my journey made me realize I’m more passionate about assisting people with their appearance. I’ve always been the person that was meticulous about grooming. Purchasing and testing products has always been a hobby of mine. My entire life I’ve always been complimented on my well-groomed appearance. I realized that I could share my knowledge and tips of grooming with other men.
My overall goal is to not only help with men’s grooming needs, but to connect and have dialogue about daily issues we encounter, whether it’s mental or physical. Not only is having a polished physical appearance important, but being healed emotionally and mentally is just as important. This blog is not only for myself, but for us as men to improve our overall lifestyle.
